How can I understand Organizational Culture Change?

I really like Jonathan Haidt’s analogy of The Rider, The Elephant and The Path….

Organizational culture can be a little like that elephant… unless you are able to motivate the masses, tap into the culture – then a variety of obstacles can stand in the way of accomplishing your goal. If the changes you would like to see in your organization are aligned with the mission, vision, values and culture of the organization – then the process of change will succeed. If however, the change is not supported by the existing culture, then a rough ride is ahead.

Can you suggest a good book on Organizational Culture Change?

Dan and Skip Heath’s book, “Switch: How to Change Things when Change is Hard” has some really good thoughts, and is a good read.

What changes would you like to see in your organization? How might the existing culture hinder that process? What can you do about it?
